Why did QUT only get 1 week of holidays?

The only reason I’m mentioning it is because my sister’s uni (USQ) got 2 weeks.

I started my holidays in Toowoomba.
(My previous post semi covered my time spent visiting my dad, sister & kitten).

Next was to Kawana Waters. I was going to be spending two days with Skye, but because her work called her in both days, I spent my time just relaxing with her puppy Ella while she worked.

Because of the unfortunate timing, I ended up only staying a night and leaving early the next morning to Tewantin.

2 and ¾ hours / 3 bus trips later and I was finally with Jordy. The second we walked through the door I was introduced to her new adopted kitten, Milton.

Feeling restless after my bus trip, Jordy suggested we go bike riding. My excuse of “but I only packed dresses and skirts!” was no match against her determination. She whipped out some shorts & a tie-dyed singlet, which I sourly changed into, then we were off.
It had been a good 4 years since I had rode a bike, needless to say I looked like a complete klutz when stopping and trying to start again – but it was honestly so much fun. We rode to the Noosa River, then stopped for some late afternoon tea at McDonalds.

The next morning we decided to go to the Eumundi Markets. Hippies – so many hippies. Felt a little out of place, but it was such an amazing atmosphere. I ended up falling in love with this one particular store that sold prints of basically everything. I ended up buying an American wartime propaganda “We Can Do It!” print.

We ended up wandering into (what we thought) was just a book store. It ended up to be a café / bookstore / library / everything you could ever want and more.

That evening it was off to Brooloo for Kirk’s belated 18th. It was a classy night of delicious food, many cocktails, beautiful people & Capture the Flag.

Waking up in a king sized bed with raining weather was a perfect way to start the day. Doing what any normal person would do, I decided to take a walk around - on my way I found this amazing (completely out of tune / rundown) piano!

Forever being a busy bee, my mother dearest picked me up, drove me to her house, I had a shower and got ready for my next social gala. Jessie’s 21st!

Jessie & I

Once the night air set in I knew something was up. My head started to throb and my throat ached, soon my entire body followed suit. It had happened – Jordy had managed to give me her flu, except it wasn’t just the flu, I got man flu, which is a thousand times worse than the normal flu. After trying to have something to eat, a lovely wave intense of nausea washed over me. Luckily I was under the care of my mama whom gave me a handful of pills and put me to bed.

Between coming home from Jessie’s and wanting to die, mum and I dressed Coco up as a Rockabilly Queen. It only took a few cuddles and kisses to make her love me again.

But now I’m back in Brisbane – lying in the warmth of my electric blanket – planning how I’m going to try and get to uni without passing out before even reaching the bus stop.

Hope everyone has a fab October!
