Talk about dropping off the face of the Internet. I’ve been *dying* to
get rid of some creative energy for weeks now! My schedule has been tight –
starting a new job at exactly the same time uni kicked off – not fun. On top of that, feeling like the worst daughter / sister
ever. We’re three months into this year and I can count the amount of times
I’ve visited my family using less than one hand.
If my sadness wasn’t enough reason to warrant a
trip, Jordy’s braveness was (I'll get to that in a second!).
So with an incredibly understanding boss, I took the night off and I left Brisbane that afternoon.
Just sitting in the lounge room with mum, Bruce and little Nellie - oh the instant relief. There's no place like home - there's no place like home - there's no place like home!
Then to wake up to this munchkin (too many Wizard of Oz references? Okay, I'll stop) the next morning - absolute perfection.
These are the only photos I took of Miss Penelope in the few hours I had with her. Mama came to wake me up (I'm not a morning person) - however she knows my weaknesses - because seriously how could you be annoyed with this precious human next to you? She's almost four months old already! And at the stage where pulling faces is the funniest thing to her - but she can't quite laugh yet - so all she does is smile and squeak. Smitten, smitten, smitten!
We were to leave at 9.30am, pick up coffee, drive to Jordy's work & have a few minutes together before it was her turn on the chopping block at 10.30am.
Wrong.
Believe it or not, but babies don't like set schedules. We ended up leaving at 10am, no coffee, and just making in on time. Uh Nellie - you wait until you're old enough to understand that time management is an amazing thing. I'll buy you your first school diary and show you the ways.
Since high school Jordy has wanted to participate in the World’s Greatest Shave. And this year, she finally did.
In January she asked if I wanted to do it with her. My response? “Um. No thank-you.” I didn’t even need to think about it – there was / is NO way I would ever be brave enough go bald willingly. If you’ve ever met this beautiful woman, you too are living testament to her loving nature. I am yet to meet another person with such a pure heart – let alone having the privilege to be able to call them my best friend.
I was in shock. Not because the person sitting in front of me (whom I have seen with hair sitting just above her bum in length!) almost completely bald - but because I actually preferred her that way. Not what I was expecting at all! Talk about a mega babe! "Dude, you actually look really good!" "Really?" "Yeah - hot!"
Not only can I say my best friend shaved for a cure - but is rocking the look!
